Always There To Care

Is eating in moderation impossible?

Are you forever counting calories and on the look out of what you eat? Are you avoiding certain foods and maybe even replacing meals with fluids? Do you over eat and then take frequent trips to the bathroom to make yourself sick? Or maybe over exercise to make up for your over-eating?

If you have answered yes to these questions, you may have Bulimia Nervosa.

What is an Bulimia Nervosa (BN)?

Bulimia Nervosa is a serious psychiatric condition characterised by a consuming abnormally large amounts of food in a relatively short period of time. This is then followed by purging behaviours such as vomiting,  using laxatives or enemas as well as over-exercising.  BN affects around 1 in 700 Australians at any given time1.

If you don’t address your Bulimia Nervosa (BN) your physical and emotional health will be negatively impacted.  Physically, you are likely to have constant sore throats, indigestion and heart burn.  You may also skip periods affecting your fertility. Your changes in weight are likely to result in erratic moods.  Emotionally, you are likely to have a low self-esteem, develop anxiety and depression.
