Psychological support that meets you where you are

If you’ve been looking for psychological support that understands your experience, sees neurodivergence as a difference rather than something to fix, and works with your strengths instead of against them, you’re in the right place.

At Vida Psychology, we provide evidence-based therapy, comprehensive assessments, and ongoing support for neurodivergent individuals and their families.

Available Australia-wide via telehealth, or in person at our North Melbourne clinic.

Supporting children, adolescents, and families through life’s challenges since 2007

You might have spent a long time trying to explain how things feel, without having the words for it. Or you’re supporting a child and want guidance that actually reflects who they are, not just a checklist of behaviours. Sometimes it’s that sense you’re capable, but things still feel harder than they should.

Whatever brings you here, you deserve support that recognises every aspect of your situation and works with your strengths. At Vida Psychology, we work with individuals and families navigating:

ADHD and autism

Learning difficulties and academic stress

Identity, self-esteem, and late-diagnosis experiences

Eating disorders and changes in mood, sleep, or energy

Postnatal and antenatal depression

Anxiety, depression, and emotional overwhelm

Executive function challenges and daily organisation

Trauma and past experiences that still feel present

Work-related stress and burnout

Relationship and family challenges, including couples counselling

You’ve always felt something was different, but couldn’t explain it

You’ve worked hard to keep up, often putting in more effort than others while making it look manageable on the surface. You’ve been told you’re capable or that everyone struggles sometimes, but there’s a sense your experience isn’t quite the same.

The support is there, but you can’t access it without the right documentation

NDIS funding, school adjustments, workplace accommodations, early intervention and specialist referrals often rely on a formal assessment. Without it, many are left advocating for support without the evidence needed to move forward.

You want to understand your child, not just label them

You’re not looking for a diagnosis just for formality. You want your child to be understood, their strengths recognised, and clear, practical guidance you can use to support them during their key developmental years.

Psychological Assessments

Clear, detailed assessments that provide answers, formal documentation, and clear next steps.

We offer:

N

ADHD assessments (ages 5+)

N

Autism assessments (ages 2+)

N

Cognitive assessments (ages 6–17)

N

Educational assessments (school age)

N

Adaptive behaviour assessments (all ages)

You’ll receive comprehensive reports that can be used across real-world settings, from NDIS applications to school adjustments and workplace support, to help you gain a clearer understanding of what support will help most.

Appointments are available in person at our North Melbourne clinic, with telehealth available for ADHD assessments. Individual Therapy and Family Support.

We help you make sense of what’s going on, build practical ways to respond, and feel more grounded in day-to-day life. Support is shaped around your experiences, your goals, challenges, and finding what will actually work for you or your family.

Meet our founder: Carmen Beaumont

Vida Psychology was founded in 2007 by Carmen Beaumont.

Born in El Salvador, a war-torn Central American country, Carmen migrated to Australia in 1987 as a political refugee. Her passion for making a difference in people’s lives was ignited by her firsthand experience of the profound impact of war on physical and mental well-being.

In 2003, Carmen began her journey to help others, quickly realising the need for strong relationships with health professionals to maximise her impact. This led Carmen to create a team that shared her passions, beliefs, and values, and thus, Vida Psychology was born in 2007.

Today, Carmen’s vision remains at the centre of our work, delivering accessible, compassionate, and evidence-based care that reflects each person’s experience and supports meaningful change.

You've taken the first step by being here

You don’t need to have everything figured out. We’ll help you work out the right next step from here.

Getting started at Vida Psychology

It’s not easy to acknowledge you need help, let alone seek it. Making the decision to reach out for therapy is an important step, but choosing the right psychologist can feel like a big decision.

We make this process as simple as possible by starting with a Matching Session, so you’re paired with the right therapist from the very beginning.

1

The matching session

Preparation

Our Admin team will send you some forms to complete before your first appointment.

Your first meeting with us is all about getting to know you and finding the right fit.

During this session, our clinician will:

N

Discuss why you’re seeking therapy and what’s brought you here

N

Explore your goals and what you’re hoping to achieve

N

Explain how the therapeutic process works

N

Address any questions or concerns you may have

N

Provide helpful resources for the period before your first therapy appointment

We take into account your specific needs, preferences, and the type of support that will work best for you, matching you with the most suitable therapist from our team.

Preparation

Our Admin team will send you some forms to complete before your first appointment.

Initial discussion

Your therapist will discuss confidentiality and informed consent to help you feel safe and clear about the process.

Sharing your story

You’ll be invited to share your personal history, current circumstances, and goals for therapy. There’s no pressure to share everything at once, and your therapist will guide the conversation at a pace that feels comfortable to you.

Wrapping up

By the end of your first session, our goal is for you to leave feeling hopeful and confident that you and your therapist will work together to reach your goals and improve your life.

Why choose Vida Psychology for a psychological assessment

A neuro-affirming approach

We see neurodivergence as a difference in how people think and experience the world. Your strengths are considered alongside the challenges, not overlooked.

Care that reflects your individual experience

No two people present the same way. We take the time to understand your history, your patterns, and what’s been getting in the way, so support actually fits your life.

Clear answers you can use in real settings

Our assessments and recommendations are designed to be practical. From school adjustments to workplace support and NDIS applications, you’ll have documentation that holds weight.

Support across all ages and life stages

We work with children, adolescents, and adults, including those who may have been missed or misunderstood in the past.

Ongoing support, not just one-off sessions

You can continue with the same team beyond your assessment or initial sessions, with support that builds over time rather than starting again.

A connected, collaborative approach

We work alongside GPs, paediatricians, schools, and other professionals to keep your support consistent and aligned.

Got questions?

Who do you work with?

We work with children, adolescents, and adults from age two upwards. Our services are available for individuals and families navigating neurodivergence, mental health concerns, developmental challenges, and everyday life struggles.

Do you offer telehealth appointments?

Yes. While our practice is based in North Melbourne and we welcome clients for in-person appointments, we also offer Telehealth sessions for some assessments for those who prefer to engage remotely, are located outside of Melbourne, or find attending in person difficult. Please get in touch, and we can discuss the best option for your situation.

What does neuro-affirming actually mean?

A neuro-affirming approach means we see neurodivergence as a natural variation in how brains work, rather than something that needs to be fixed or corrected. In practice, this means we focus on your strengths, work with your natural patterns of thinking, and support you to thrive as you are.

Do I need a GP referral?

No referral is required to book an appointment.

You can attend as a private client, use private health cover, or access support as a self-managed NDIS participant. If you’re an Australian resident, you may also be eligible for Medicare rebates through a Mental Health Treatment Plan.

How do I get a Mental Health Treatment Plan?

You’ll need to book an appointment with your GP, who will assess your eligibility and prepare the plan. As this involves a more detailed discussion, it can help to request a longer or double appointment when booking.

Do you see NDIS participants?

Yes, we support NDIS participants.

How often will I need sessions?

This depends on a number of factors, including the nature of your concerns, your goals, and what works best for you. Generally, sessions are often held weekly or fortnightly, particularly in the early stages of treatment. Over time, as you make progress, sessions may become less frequent. Your psychologist will discuss a recommended schedule with you and will regularly review this as your needs change.

Ready to take the next step?

Working with Vida Psychology can give you a clearer understanding of what’s been going on, practical ways to respond, and support you can continue to rely on over time.
