Vida Psychology – approved ATAPS provider

The Access to Allied Psychology Services (ATAPS) is an Australian Government program which provides effective, free psychological counselling for people with a mental illness who may not otherwise be able to access clinical services.

Through ATAPS Individuals can be provided with up to 12 sessions to assist a range of issues including:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Perinatal depression
  • Drug and alcohol misuse
  • Relationship and family difficulties
  • Life transition and
  • Bereavement

The Melbourne Primary Care Network (MPCN) coordinates primary health care delivery by matching Psychologists and clients according to client’s needs and Psychologists expertise.

Services are available to low income earners with priority given to those at increase risk of suicide and self-harm (appointments within 72 hours of referral), new mothers, children and young people, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders and those affected by homelessness.

General Practitioners (GPs) referring patients under ATAPS are encouraged to access the CAREinMIND ATAPS ‘Referral Pathway Fact Sheet for GP’s which can be found under the Services Section of the Melbourne Primary Care Network [http://www.mpcn.org.au/services/]. When making a referral you can choose to nominate Vida Psychology as a mental health provider.
