Challenges Together
Creating fulfilling lives in our community
At Vida Psychology, we support you through life’s challenges.
Vida Psychology has been supporting adults, children, and families in North Melbourne and beyond since 2007. Whether you’re dealing with anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties or looking for an assessment, our team of psychologists is here to help you move forward.
No referral needed to get started. Telehealth is available for therapy and selected assessments.
Whatever’s going on, there’s a good chance we can help
People come to us at all different points in life. Some are in a crisis, and others have a sense that something isn’t quite right. You don’t need a diagnosis or even a particular reason to reach out. We can work through it together and help you make sense of what’s going on.
Some of the areas we commonly support include:
- Academic stress
- Antenatal and postpartum depression
- Anxiety
- Child and adolescent psychology
- Couples counselling
- Depression
- ADHD & ASD Assessments
- Cognitive & Educational Assessments
- Difficult relationship with food
- Work stress
- Trauma
- School difficulties
Your experience doesn’t have to fit into a category. If something’s on your mind, it’s worth reaching out.
Therapies we offer at Vida Psychology
Our psychologists are trained in a range of evidence-based therapeutic approaches. The way we work with you will depend on what’s going on, what’s been proven to help, and what makes sense for you.
CBT
Cognitive Behaviour Therapy
We look at how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours connect. Practical and proven to be effective, it’s widely used for anxiety, depression, OCD, and stress.
ACT
Acceptance & Commitment Therapy
Focuses on changing your relationship with difficult thoughts and feelings, rather than trying to change, avoid or get rid of them. Built around helping you move toward what matters most to you.
ERP
Exposure & Response Prevention
A highly effective approach for OCD and anxiety, and it works by gradually facing what’s feared while stepping back from the responses that keep the cycle going.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy
Centres on present-moment awareness without judgement. Commonly used for anxiety, depression, and stress, and often used alongside other approaches.
Trauma-Informed Therapy
Safe, collaborative support for people who have experienced trauma. The pace of sessions is guided by you, with a focus on navigating how trauma shows up day to day.
Couples Therapy
Gottman Method
A research-backed approach to improving communication, rebuilding trust, and working through conflict in a way that’s respectful and constructive.
Assessments
If you’ve been trying to work out what’s going on for you or your child, an assessment can give you a place to start. We offer neuro-affirming assessments for children, adolescents, and adults, both in person at our North Melbourne clinic or via telehealth for ADHD assessments.
AGES 2+
Autism Spectrum Disorder Assessment
For people who suspect they or their child may be autistic, or where a parent, teacher or health professional has raised the possibility.
AGES 5+
Attention Deficit / Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) Assessment
For children and adults finding it hard to perform at school, work, or in everyday life despite knowing what needs to be done.
AGES 6-17
Cognitive Assessment
Looks at thinking and learning ability, including patterns of strengths and difficulties. Useful where a child is struggling at school or where giftedness is suspected.
AGES 4+
Educational Assessment
Examines academic skills in relation to what’s expected for your child’s age or year level. Can identify learning difficulties like dyslexia or dyscalculia.

Why choose Vida Psychology
A neuro-affirming approach
We see neurodivergence as a difference in how people think and experience the world. Your strengths are considered alongside the challenges, not overlooked.
Care that reflects your individual experience
No two people present the same way. We take the time to understand your history, your patterns, and what’s been getting in the way, so support actually fits your life.
Clear answers you can use in real settings
Our assessments and recommendations are designed to be practical and meaningful. Our reports are written with purpose, providing clear, practical recommendations that support school adjustments, workplace accommodations, and NDIS applications, so you have the documentation you need to access the right support.
Support across all ages and life stages
We work with children, adolescents, and adults, including those who may have been overlooked, misdiagnosed, or who are coming to us after years of unanswered questions.
Ongoing support, not just one-off sessions
You can continue with the same team beyond your assessment or initial sessions, with support that builds over time rather than starting again.
A connected, collaborative approach
We work alongside GPs, paediatricians, schools, and other professionals to keep your support consistent and aligned.

Got questions?
Who do you work with?
We work with children, adolescents, and adults from age two upwards. Our services are available for individuals navigating neurodivergence, mental health concerns, developmental challenges, and everyday life struggles.
Do you offer telehealth appointments?
Yes. While our practice is based in North Melbourne and we welcome clients for in-person appointments, we also offer Telehealth sessions for some assessments for those who prefer to engage remotely, are located outside of Melbourne, or find attending in person difficult. Please get in touch, and we can discuss the best option for your situation.
What does neuro-affirming actually mean?
A neuro-affirming approach means we see neurodivergence as a natural variation in how brains work, rather than something that needs to be fixed or corrected. In practice, this means we focus on your strengths, work with your natural patterns of thinking, and support you to thrive as you are.
Do I need a GP referral?
No referral is required to book an appointment.
You can attend as a private client, use private health cover, or access support as a self-managed NDIS participant. If you’re an Australian resident, you may also be eligible for Medicare rebates through a Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP).
How do I get a Mental Health Treatment Plan?
You’ll need to book an appointment with your GP, who will assess your eligibility and prepare the plan. As this involves a more detailed discussion, it can help to request a longer or double appointment when booking.
Do you see NDIS participants?
Yes, we support NDIS participants.
How often will I need sessions?
This depends on your situation and what you’re working through. To begin with, sessions are usually scheduled weekly or fortnightly. From there, you and your psychologist will adjust the frequency based on your progress, goals, and what works best for you.
A safe place to start, at your own pace
Whether you’re seeking support, answers or simply someone to talk to, we’re here to help you make sense of what’s going on.
No referral needed. Telehealth is available for therapy and selected assessments.
