What information should be included in the referral?

Please include a detailed referral letter and if possible a completed Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP). This should outline the patient’s presenting issues, relevant history, and any specific treatment goals or preferences.

How quickly will my patient be seen?

We strive to minimise wait times and prioritise timely access to care. The exact time frame can vary based on current demand and the availability of our psychologists. We will send you a letter notifying you of your patient’s first appointment.

Yes, Vida Psychology offers telehealth services for patients who prefer remote consultations. This can be particularly beneficial for those with mobility issues, residing in remote areas, or seeking more flexible appointment options.

How do you match patients with the right psychologist?

We consider various factors such as the patient’s specific needs, financial circumstances, presenting issues, therapeutic preferences, logistic matters as well as the expertise and availability of our psychologists. This ensures the best possible therapeutic alliance and optimal care.

How will I be kept informed about my patient’s progress?

With the patient’s consent, we provide regular updates to referring GPs about their progress and any significant changes in treatment. We value collaboration and believe in maintaining open communication with referring healthcare providers.

What should my patient expect during their first appointment?

At Vida Psychology, the initial appointment will be a Matching session. This involves a discussions about why they are seeking therapy, exploring goals and expectations, explanation about the therapeutic process, an opportunity to address any concerns they may have and provide helpful resources for the interim period before their first appointment.
