Professional Supervision Service
Supervision is a key part of professional development for both provisional and registered psychologists. It provides a space to reflect on your practice, gain insights, and enhance your clinical skills under the guidance of supervisors. Carmen Beaumont, a Psychology Board Approved Supervisor, has extensive experience with provisional psychologists, 5th-year students, and registered psychologists. She combines a deep understanding of theory and practice to guide discussions on complex cases, ethical dilemmas, and personal development.
Carmen’s supervision is collaborative, and focuses on building confidence and competency in a supportive environment. Her approach meets the highest professional standards, offering:
- Guidance on complex cases and decision-making.
- Feedback to improve therapeutic techniques.
- Support with work-life balance, stress management and burnout prevention.

FAQs
How often does peer supervision take place?
At Vida Psychology we believe in fostering a supportive work environment where team members can share their experiences, seek advice, and receive support from colleagues. Collegial support happens organically and ad hoc basis. Additionally, we provide monthly clinical supervision and peer support to help manage work-related stress and challenges.
How often does supervision take place?
We often joke that first week of school can be tough. That’s why we strive to ensure our clinicians have a good start. One way we do this is by offering weekly formal supervision sessions initially. As clinicians feel more settled, this moves to monthly supervision.
What is and how often does clinical governance take place?
Clinical governance at Vida Psychology is a platform designed to ensure that our clinical standards are not only maintained but continuously improved. Our discussions cover a range of important topics, including clinical outcomes, diary management, Medicare and AHPRA compliance. This comprehensive approach ensures both the well-being of our clients and the support of our clinicians. At Vida Psychology, clinical governance occurs on an ad hoc basis, with formal sessions held bimonthly.
What opportunities are there for professional growth and development?
At Vida Psychology, we believe in investing in our team. One of the first conversations we have with new clinicians is about their career aspirations over the next 12 months and beyond. We discuss how we can collaboratively achieve these goals. We offer professional development sessions every six weeks, featuring both internal and external presenters, conducted during work hours to prevent encroachment on personal time.
What administrative support is available to clinicians?
We provide full-time administrative support to handle scheduling, billing, and non-clinical tasks. Our streamlined administrative processes make case note and report writing efficient, maximising the time available for clinical work and personal life.
What Clients will I see and what will my caseload be?
Working with your ideal client is important not only for you as the clinician, but also the clients you support. In consultation with clinicians, we ensure you have a manageable number of clients and diverse caseload to prevent burnout and maintain the quality of care.
Is there flexibility in scheduling appointments and managing work hours?
Yes, your diary is arranged in consultation with you. We understand that needs change from time to time, so we regularly review and make necessary adjustments to mitigate burnout and ensure a healthy work-life balance.
How does Vida Psychology support work-life balance for its team members?
At Vida Psychology, we prioritise the well-being of our team members as much as we do our clients. We understand that a healthy work-life balance is crucial for maintaining high-quality care, job satisfaction, and overall mental health. We offer flexible work hours to accommodate individual needs, allowing clinicians to balance their professional and personal commitments. We provide the option to work from home or conduct telehealth sessions to reduce commute times and enhance flexibility.
Are there opportunities to provide feedback?
At Vida Psychology, we believe feedback provides an opportunity for growth. This is something we foster not only in our clients but also our team. We maintain open channels for feedback and suggestions to continuously improve work conditions and address any concerns promptly. We also have regular check-ins with team members to discuss workload, well-being, and any adjustments needed to support work-life balance.
What should I expect during the first few weeks of joining the Vida team?
Your first week is all about onboarding you into Vida Psychology, including being allocated a buddy. Discussions about your ideal client, clinical interests, and regular supervision are among some of the things to expect. We aim to ensure a smooth transition and help you feel at home from the start.
